LISMORE LASHED BY HEAVY RAIN AND WIND

Parts of Lismore were battered by a small but intense storm cell overnight.
A severe weather warning was issued just before 8 o’clock, with East Lismore and Goonellabah among the worst hit areas.
The city’s airport received 25 millimetres worth of rainfall in just over 20 minutes, while wind gusts in excess of 80km/h were also recorded.
Ballina and Lennox Head didn’t escape the burst of wild weather either, as the system made its way towards the coast.
Further west, there was a decent drop of rain for struggling farmers, with 24 millimetres recorded at Casino in the 24-hours to 9am this morning.
