MAN UNKNOWINGLY LEADS POLICE ON A CHASE THROUGH A PRISON FARM
A man wanted by police for allegedly stealing cars in the Hunter Valley has been arrested, after trying to escape through a prison farm.
Police pursued a stolen tipper truck through Gloucester on Monday this week, later discovering the vehicle hidden at a property nearby.
Yesterday, a stolen grey Toyota Hilux – fitted with stolen number plates – was used in a service station drive-off at Scone.
Police pursued the driver for only two minutes, before he allegedly crashed the car through a farm fence near Halcombe Hill.
He then allegedly led police on a foot chase, running across a rail line and into farm paddocks, seemingly unaware he’d entered the grounds of St Helier’s prison farm.
The 46-year-old was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station, charged with 15 offences and refused bail.
