Further north and Doctor Tony Parks, has been honored with an Order of Australia medal for his conservation efforts.
The Northern Rivers resident founded the non-for-profit organisation ‘Big Scrub Landcare’ – a group which helps protect rainforests.
Seven other locals were also recognised.
