A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions.
Newcastle, Gosford, Port Macquarie and Taree are likely to see strong southerly winds, averaging between 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
Along the coast, wave height is expected to reach up to five metres at exposed beaches, with coastal erosion likely.
