Tamworth’s Fire Zone Commander Tom Cooper has been recognised for his tireless efforts to keep the community safe.
Mr Cooper travelled to Sydney’s Government House yesterday, where he received a prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal.
It’s an honour which he says caught him off guard.
“I think one of the best things I ever did was come to the country, because there’s so many projects where if you have a lot of energy, you can really contribute. I think that was part of the reason I was awarded this achievement.”
