ANOTHER FUNDING PROMISE FOR STOCKTON EROSION

Labor has begun the last week of the federal election campaign by promising money to fix erosion at Stockton.
The party says it will spend $62-million to implement a coastal adaptation plan, if elected.
The money would only be made available if council and the state government first commit to Newcastle Council’s Coastal Zone Management Plan.
“Once the Stockton community has completed their local process, has the state government on board, then they’re in an absolutely ideal position to go to the Commonwealth, should a Federal Labor government win.” – Sharon Claydon, Federal Member for Newcastle.
Labor says the money would be used for sand and beach nourishment.
