DOORS RE-OPEN AT CARRINGTON BOARDING HOUSE

Five homeless men have been able to move back into a boarding house at Carrington, that was abruptly shut down last year.
Newcastle Council placed an emergency order on the Bourke Street property, amid fire safety concerns.
Now, after building works, including the installation of fire doors and emergency speakers, 16 rooms have been reopened.
The Newcastle Affordable Housing group says work continues so that all 36 bedrooms can eventually be re-occupied.
