Newcastle’s Macedonian community celebrated Good Friday last night ahead of their Easter weekend, acknowledging 60 years of Orthodox tradition.
Hundreds poured into a church at Broadmeadow to commemorate Christ’s crucifixion.
Candles were carried from School Street, which was blocked off for the service.
