BLACKSPOT FUNDING ALLOCATED TO THE NORTHERN RIVERS

$3-million will be spent making roads in the Northern Rivers safer as part of the federal government’s Black Spot Program.
It’s been a long time coming for the Diadem/Magellan street intersection in Lismore, which has seen many accidents and near misses.
In place of the current intersection a single lane round-a-bout will be built on the busy road.
“Some of them will be like improving shoulders, some of them are blind corners, the one on Teven Road in Ballina is just to straighten a corner a bit so it’s not as dangerous. The accidents happen as a result of 2 people coming around the bend. So sort of different solutions for different areas.”
Projects in Ballina, Kyogle and the Richmond Valley have also received funding.
