ROAD SPIKES DEPLOYED IN HIGH SPEED PURSUIT AT CASINO

Two men have been charged after a police pursuit stretching more than 40 kilometres in the state’s north.

Police say they spotted an unregistered Holden Commodore on Walker Street at Casino just before midnight, with an attempt to stop the vehicle unsuccessful.

The Commodore reached speeds of up to 160 km/h, as it led police through Shannon Brook, before road spikes were deployed on Johnston Street at Casino.

It eventually came to rest at Woodview, where it caught on fire.

All three men inside the vehicle allegedly attempted to flee, before they were arrested nearby.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, was charged with a string of offences, including two counts of destroy or damage property.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 21-year-old man, was also charged with a number of offences.

A second passenger, was released pending further inquiries.
