STRONG SECOND QUARTER STEERS FORSYTHES TO ROUND ONE WIN

Forsythes were tipped to be a dark horse in the race for the Newcastle Netball premiership and they certainly showed why on Saturday, beating two-time defending premiers Wests by two goals.
They actually trailed by one at the start of the second quarter, but unbelievably, by half-time had a 13 goal lead.
Shooter Sabina Gomboso played a huge part in that.
It’s Wests first loss since 2017.
Last year’s grand finalists Souths Lions posted a 20-point win in their season-opener.
Maryville Tavern defeated Nova Thunder by eight, while the Junction Hotel were narrow-winners in their return to the competition.
