The Northern Rivers region didn’t receive much of a look-in in the federal budget, although infrastructure upgrades have been made a priority.
Ongoing funding was allocated for bridge maintenance and half a billion dollars was committed for the Pacific Highway upgrade over the next two years.
“It’s been called the infrastructure budget, $100 billion over the next 10 years, but we are seeing unprecedented infrastructure spend going on in our region and that’s going to continue because of this budget.”
Ballina Byron Gateway Airport could also benefit from a $100-million cash splash for regional airports.
