MISSION AUSTRALIA TO MANAGE SOCIAL HOUSING

Charity organisations like Mission Australia will manage the bulk of public housing in Coffs Harbour, under a new plan.
The state government has agreed to allow Mission Australia to take over an additional 1000 homes.
CEO James Toomey, who opened the charity’s new office today, says there’s an urgent need for social housing.
“I know that in the Coffs Harbour and Mid North Coast area there are over 1000 people that are homeless, that is living in unsuitable accommodation and on housing waiting lists to find suitable accommodation.”
By mid-year Mission Australia will manage almost 1400 social homes acrss the state.
