Police have confirmed human remains found in Moree last month do NOT belong to missing man William John Torrens.
The 73-year-old was last seen leaving Fairview Retirement Village on the 4th January last year.
DNA testing has revealed the skeletal remains found on the bank of the Mehi River belong to someone else.
Police will conduct further testing to determine whose remains were found.
Meanwhile, police are renewing their appeal for information on the whereabouts of Mr Torrens.
