MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY BITING A POLICE OFFICER

A man is facing court today, accused of biting a police officer on the leg in a bizarre incident at Coffs Harbour.
At around 7pm yesterday, the 44-year-old was spoken to by security officers at a music festival at Park Beach Reserve.
They asked him to leave the venue due to his level of intoxication, but he refused.
A scuffle broke out as he was being escorted out of the festival.
Police allege that as they attempted to handcuff the man, he bit an officer on the left calf, causing it to bleed.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, failing to leave a licensed premises and resisting arrest.
He’s been refused bail.
Sounds like he bit off more than he could chew!
