WATER PATROLS OUT IN FORCE TO SAVE TAMWORTH WATER SUPPLY
Water restrictions in the North West are underway, with Tamworth Regional Council today providing a report card on how residents are doing, when it comes to reducing their water use.
“Since we introduced Level 2 restrictions on Monday, we have seen a reduction in water consumption over the last four days. It’s been around thirty-five megalitres a day, prior to that, seven days before that, it was around forty-five megalitres a day.”
Council says there’s room for improvement, with water patrol vehicles on the lookout for those who won’t comply..
“Our main aim isn’t to issue fines… We want the community to come onboard, and follow the rules as they are as per the Drought Management Plan.”
“If there is an ongoing issue or something is observed by one of our compliance officers, they do have the power to issue an on-the-spot fine of two-hundred and twenty dollars.”
