A development application has been lodged with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to transform the existing Bunnings Warehouse building into five separate tenancies.
The internal reconfiguration would see it changed to a specialised retail premises.
If approved, work will begin after the hardware chain moves to its new location on John Oxley Drive.
The $43-million Bunnings store is expected to open its doors in March.
