A foreign national is lucky to be alive after getting caught in a rip at Port Macquarie’s Town Beach.
The incident unfolded at around 7:30 last Friday night, in front of hundreds of onlookers.
Bystander Dave Fox filmed the dramatic rescue, where three brave men entered the water on surfboards and brought the man safely to shore..
The area near the Breakwall is notorious for rips and permanently has a warning for a dangerous current.
