HUNTER POLICE INJURED ON DUTY

Two Hunter police officers were injured while attending a domestic violence incident in Maitland yesterday.
About 4.40pm yesterday the officers arrived at the Cumberland Street property when they were met with a man who they say did not comply with directions.
Police say the man then pushed one of the officers in the chest and ran into the yards of neighbouring homes.
They caught up with the man at a house in Lyndsay Street, East Maitland where they used pepper spray to restrain him. .
The man was taken to a Mental Health Facility where he is waiting assessment. The officers were treated at the scene by paramedics with one of them requiring hospital treatment after suffering back injuries.
