It’s been years in the making, and now, the $60-million refurbishment of Armidale Hospital is complete.
It was officially opened on Wednesday, with staff members and the community gathering for the event.
The updated facilities expected to benefit the whole region.
“This is a historic day for Armidale. A modern, first class health facility that will really provide modern healthcare to the community and the surrounding region for decades to come.”
A new emergency department is a key feature, along with a new intensive care unit and more operating theatres.
“It means now that Armidale can actually perform its role much more effectively, and I would hope that people who do get sick and have to come to this hospital can actually go and have all of their care in this hospital.”
