MAN CHARGED OVER ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

A man will face court today over an alleged attempted armed robbery at Tamworth.
Just before 9.30pm last Thursday, officers responded to reports of an assault outside a unit block on Robert Street.
A 17-year-old teenager and his friend were reportedly walking along the footpath, when a utility stopped, and two men got out and confronted them.
The pair, one allegedly armed with a knife, grabbed the teen and threatened him, demanding his bag.
The teen and his friend were able to break free and run to a nearby apartment, and notified police.
Detectives started an investigation, and arrested an 18-year-old man at a West Tamworth home yesterday, after he tried to run away.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with several offences, including assault, aggravated break-in, stealing a vehicle, and breaching his bail.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Tamworth Local Court today.
