AUSTRALIAN REPTILE PARK BREAKS ITS OWN WORLD RECORD

The Australian Reptile Park has broken its own record for the most snake venom extracted in a single session.

Chewie, the resident King Brown, has produced a staggering 1-and-a-half grams of venom – that’s enough to kill 10 men.

“King Brown snakes are Australia’s largest venomous snake. They’re the world’s second largest venomous snake. Now, they don’t rank that high for the toxicity of their venom, but what they lack in toxicity, they make up for in sheer volume.” says the park’s Head of Reptiles, Billy Collett.

Previously, the milking record stood at 1.3 grams.

The Central Coast wildlife park plays a vital role in producing life-saving anti-venom – it’s the sole supplier of snake venom in the country.
