LAKE KEEPIT PETITION

Recreational fishers are taking a stand, hoping to see parliamentary change, after Lake Keepit dropped to its lowest level in history.

A petition has already reached 3,000 signatures.

Water New South Wales has since responded to news of the petition.

It says “the dam’s primary purpose is to supply towns and irrigators – who in turn, pay much of the structure’s maintenance costs via water charges.”

The organisation went on to say it’s working with user groups to maintain recreational use of dams like Lake Keepit.
