A teenager is behind bars tonight, accused of murdering a grandfather of 11 in a home invasion at Lake Macquarie.
Police are still searching for two masked attackers.
EARLIER:
A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder, following a violent home invasion at Whitebridge on Monday.
Police allege that three people broke into a Lonus Avenue home, with their faces covered and armed with baseball bats and knives, when a 60-year-old man was attacked in his bedroom, and died from his serious injuries.
The man’s two brothers were home at the time, but were uninjured.
Following inquiries, detectives attended a Warners Bay Road home in Charlestown and arrested a 19-year-old early on Wednesday.
He was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
Police are still looking for two men in relation to the incident.
