TOP MARKS FOR LAKE MAC WATERWAYS

Swimming and fishing spots in Lake Macquarie have scored top marks for water quality, in the council’s first round of summer testing.

Of the 14 sites examined, two received the top four-star rating, while Wangi Wangi and Sunshine received three stars.

The council says that, due to the enclosed nature of the lake, pollution from contaminated stormwater can be a risk.
