NAMOI COUNCILS SELECTED AS PILOT JOINT ORGANISATION

Namoi Councils has been announced as one of five regional groups to pilot a Joint Organisation.
As part of the Fit for the Future Program, the state government will provide $5.3 million to support the creation of the bodies.
The five council groups will meet in Sydney on Monday to start the pilot program.
Namoi Councils Chair Col Murray says the organisation will transform the way state and local government collaborate on key community priorities.
“It’s a great recognition by the Minister for Local Government to acknowledge us as a leader in that area and provide us with the opportunity to actually in fact shape the future of regional joint organisations in New South Wales.”
The four other regional council groups chosen for the trial are Central West, Hunter, Illawarra and Riverina.
