ARREST MADE AFTER FRIGHTENING ROBBERY

A man is set to appear in court today after being arrested and charged following an armed robbery in the Hunter region earlier this week.
About 10.30pm on Monday, two men armed with a firearm and a sledge hammer got out of a stolen vehicle on Armidale street in Abermain.
They forced their way into a bowling club and approached a female employee, tying the woman’s hands and feet with duct tape.
The men allegedly ransacked the club and left with a large sum of cash, the car was found burnt out nearby.
About 5.10pm yesterday, investigators stopped a vehicle in Jesmond, and arrested a 35-year-old man.
He’s also facing charges after an alleged theft at a hardware store at Taylors Beach earlier this month.
Investigations into the incident continue.
