POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN PORT MACQUARIE
Investigations are underway into a fire at a property on Giraween Close in Port Macquarie.
Emergency services were called to the address at about 5am to find the premises well alight.
It’s alleged a ute was deliberately set alight next door before it rolled into two other vehicles before coming to rest in the garage of the neighbouring home.
“It appears that nobody was inside the vehicle at the time and we’re investigating the circumstances around how the vehicle was set alight and how the vehicle got to be rolling down towards that house” – Chief Inspector Mick Aldridge – Port Macquarie Police Command.
The fire caused significant damage but fortunately the two occupants inside were uninjured.
A crime scene was established and forensic police are conducting inquiries.
