ANGLO AMERICAN TO SELL DRAYTON MINE

Six months after mining operations ceased at the Drayton coal mine in the Hunter Valley, Anglo American has announced it’s selling up.

The company has entered into an agreement with Malabar Coal to sell its 88 per cent stake in the Drayton thermal coal mine and proposed Drayton South project, south of Muswellbrook.

The sale is subject to several conditions which are confidential.

Anglo American’s controversial plans to expand the mine, were rejected four times by the Planning Assessment Commission.
