HUNTER ATHLETES MISS OUT AT NEW YORK MARATHON

Hunter athletes Kurt Fearnley and Christie Dawes missed out on the podium in the New York Marathon.

Gunning for his sixth victory in the race, Fearnley squared off with familiar rivals such as Switzerland’s Marcel Hug and Britain’s David Weir.

But none of them could catch Daniel Romanchuk, who became the first American to win the wheelchair category, Fearnley finished fifth.

Dawes was 11th in the women’s event, won by Manuela Schar of Switzerland.
