FOUR CARS DESTROYED IN ADAMSTOWN CARPARK

Strong westerly winds are thought to have fanned flames that led to four cars being destroyed in a Newcastle shopping centre carpark.

Dense smoke rose into the sky at around 2.30 on Friday afternoon, just off Brunker Road at Adamstown.

Investigators are attempting to pinpoint what started the fire, spreading quickly from car to car and along a fenceline, behind the Nags Head Hotel.

No one was injured and the blaze was quickly brought under control.
