During his 15 years in the job, he’s carried out hundreds of rescues and saved multiple lives, earning Port Macquarie’s, James Turnham the title of Australian Lifeguard of the Year.
The 32-year-old has been recognised for his passion and commitment to the job, on the beach and in the classroom.
He teaches surf safety to more than 4,000 students across the Hastings each year.
