PORT MACQUARIE MAN DRIVES INTO THE WATER AT SHELLY BEACH

A man has told police, he needed to wash the dirt off his tyres after he was seen driving through the water at a beach in Port Macquarie.

Police were called to Shelly Beach on Friday afternoon following reports from members of the public of a man driving in the ocean.

The 39-year-old local is now facing possible charges relating to driving in a manner dangerous to the public.

Police have confirmed he returned a negative result to a drug and alcohol test.
