BABY UMBI TO HELP TRAIN TAMWORTH HOSPITAL STAFF
Tamworth Hospital’s Maternity Unit has been gifted a new training device.
The ‘Baby Umbi’ – today affectionately named Willow – will take the pressure off young doctors and nurses, when learning lifesaving procedures.
“We have very experienced doctors here who have to take the time to show our younger doctors during a procedure, it’s much nicer to know how to do it prior to an emergency,” Therese Madden, Nurse Unit Manager, Paediatrics.
The $1500 device was donated by Humpty Dumpty and LJ Hooker.
Sam and Katelyn Spokes say it was something close to their hearts as new parents.
“There are a lot of people who have premature births and to have doctors who can train regularly and know what they’re doing in that emergency, I think’s a big thing,” Sam Spokes, LJ Hooker Tamworth.
