MAN REFUSED BAIL AFTER NORTH COAST PURSUIT

A 34-year-old man has been refused bail, after Highway Patrol were forced to deploy road spikes to end a police pursuit on the Bruxner Highway.
At around 10 o’clock last night police attempted to stop a vehicle in East Lismore for a random breath test, when the car accelerated away at high speed.
The car was eventually stopped on the M1 near Ballina.
The driver, who was disqualified until 2027 was arrested, with a search of the car uncovering a number of .22 calibre rounds of ammunition.
The man returned a positive oral fluid test for methamphetamine.
