A woman is lucky to be alive after a horror smash at Lake Munmorah overnight.
The 45-year-old was sitting in her parked car near the intersection of Elizabeth Bay Drive and the Pacific Highway when, just before midnight, another vehicle crashed into the rear, trapping her inside.
She was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The other driver has since been charged with high range drink-driving.
