SWITCH TO LED STREETLIGHTS STARTING TO PAY OFF
Tamworth Regional Council is starting to reap the benefits of the LED streetlights that have lit up around the region.
Council says its saved $130,000 since the end of last year- savings that are needed to pay back the hefty $1.3-million spent on the project.
More than 4000 street lamps were switched to LED lighting last year.
“It’s approximately 685 tonnes per annum of carbon emissions we’ll no longer be producing, and as far as energy usage reductions it’s the equivalent of a hundred homes that we’re no longer using the energy for in our street lighting.”
