The crisis in Canberra took a dramatic turn on Thursday morning, with once-loyal senior ministers to Malcolm Turnbull tendering their resignations, and throwing their support behind a leadership challenge.
Senators Michaelia Cash, Mathias Cormann and Mitch Fifield addressed the media, telling reporters they informed the Prime Minister he no longer has the support to maintain his position as Liberal leader, and in turn his role as Prime Minister of Australia.
A number of other MPs have since tendered their resignations, including Greg Hunt, Steven Ciobo along with Alan Tudge and Michael Keenan.
