ASBESTOS TESTING EXTENDED ACROSS GREATER NEWCASTLE

Homeowners across the Hunter now have until August to register for a free loose-fill asbestos test.

The state government is extending the period, following a strong uptake of the program.

It’s open to homes built before the 1980s in the Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie regions.

The government has set aside funds to purchase and demolish any affected homes.
