MACKSVILLE HIGH EVACUATED IN FIRE SCARE

A mid north coast school was evacuated this afternoon after a fire broke out in its Industrial Arts building.
Students and teachers at Macksville High raised the alarm, after flames were seen coming out of a dust extractor.
Thick smoke filled several rooms on the ground floor.
Fire and Rescue Inspector Tony Lenthall said, “Crews had to put their big fans to work, their positive pressure ventilators to work to clear out the smoke and also in one room on the second level.”
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and allowed the 400 students back to their classrooms.
