Lennox Head’s Adam Melling has finished runner-up in the Reef Hawaiian Pro, going down to fellow Aussie Taj Burrow in the finals.
Burrow took an early lead, leaving 26-year-old Melling to battle for second against Brazil’s Adriano De Souza.
But a 12.6 wave total gave the local silver, and a valuable 52 hundred points towards his ASP World Tour requalification.
“It’s just good to make the podium this year. I needed the points so bad. I’ve been borderline for a while now so hopefully this can push me up.”
