COUNCIL CALLS ON COMMUNITY TO HELP EMPTY GUNNEDAH POOL

Gunnedah’s new pool may have JUST been filled with water, but the community is now being asked to help empty it.
Council has been testing the pool for leaks this week, as part of the facility’s multi-million dollar upgrade.
It will now need to be emptied, before tiling can begin.
“We know just how critical water is at the moment in our community, in our agricultural community – we are in drought. So what we are saying to our community is let us know if you’d like access to some of that water,” Gunnedah Shire Mayor, Jamie Chaffey.
Residents can fill up with free water from Monday.
Those interested will need to contact Gunnedah Shire Council.
“It could be used for irrigation out onto some farm lands particularly, it could be used for dust suppression – there could be many different uses, just obviously not for drinking.”
