POP-UP SOUP CAFE RAISES DEMENTIA AWARENESS IN PORT MACQUARIE

A 12-month program to build greater awareness for those living with dementia started today with a pop-up soup cafe at Port Macquarie’s C-W-A.

Students from Newman Senior Technical College helped to prepare the meals with chefs from St Agnes Parish.

“Apart from a lot of seniors, we’ve got city workers, the working group as well and the aim is, apart from having a yummy hot soup is to learn how to be a dementia friend by being friends with someone living with dementia.” – Julie Priest, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council

The soup was on sale to the community for five dollars with all proceeds going to the Memory Garden.
