LAKE CATHIE EXPECTED TO OPEN THIS MONTH

Lake Cathie is expected to be artificially opened later this month following the completion of dredging works.

About 21,000 cubic metres of sand has been dredged and placed at the edge of the Foreshore Reserve, to reclaim space that had been lost to erosion.

Sand was also relocated to replenish part of the beach front on Illaroo Road.

With some final works still underway, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is asking the community to exercise caution.

The lake will remain closed until the sand has settled.
