TWO MEN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED BYRON BAY ASSAULT
A 28-year-old and a 29-year-old man have been charged, after two police officers were allegedly assaulted in Byron Bay on Friday.
Officers were called to a nightclub on Jonson Street in the early hours of Friday morning, after two men became aggressive towards security.
It’s alleged in an attempt to arrest the pair the officers were assaulted, leaving one with stomach, finger, neck and chin injuries.
The two men fled the scene.
They were later arrested at Byron Bay Police Station.
A 29-year-old man was charged with a string of offences including two counts of assault police cause actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear in court later today.
A 28-year-old man was charged with two offences including resist officer in execution of their duty.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in court later today.
