TAMWORTH’S CHRIS HERDEN CLAIMS FIRST AUSTRALIAN OPEN LAWN BOWLS TITLE

Tamworth now has a new national lawn bowling champion, with Chris Herden taking out yesterday’s Australian Open pairs title at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
Herden partnered fellow New South Welshman Carl Healey, with the duo winning the final 21 to 10.
The pair collecting a whopping $10,000 for their efforts, in what’s considered as the world’s most lucrative lawn bowls event.
The victory was Herden’s first national title.
