A 24-year-old man is recovering in hospital, after presenting to a Newcastle hospital with gunshot wounds overnight.
Around 11pm, a man was dropped at the Mater Hospital in Waratah, suffering gunshot wounds to his hand and shoulder.
His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police are yet to speak to the man due to his medical state.
At the same time, police were called to the intersection of Acacia Avenue and Allowah Street, Waratah West, after reports of gun shots.
A crime scene was established, with detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
