BUSWAYS INCREASE SAFETY OF SERVICES IN PORT MACQUARIE
Port Macquarie’s Busways has welcomed a new fleet of modernised buses to its daily services, in a bid to increase safety.
The new school bus is specifically designed for rural areas, fitted with seatbelts which must be worn by all passengers and drivers.
The Volvo B7 also features an emergency evacuation door on the passenger side of the bus.
“It also has some other features in it such as inbuilt fire suppression in the motor, it’s designed to dampen the fire down and allow the full evacuation of the bus” – Gaven Muller, Fire and Rescue
The rest of the fleet is fitted with an access ramp and vehicle kneeling system, making it easier for passengers to get on and off.
