TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING AN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY IN ROBERT STREET

Two Tamworth men aged 20 and 21 have been charged following the attempted robbery of a takeaway shop on Robert Street last week.
Just before 9pm on Thursday a man allegedly armed with a tool, entered the shop and demanded money from an employee.
The employee moved to a back room, before the alleged offender fled the scene empty handed with a second man.
Both were arrested after a routine vehicle stop on Saturday night.
“We are certainly pleased with the result in this matter. It’s a serious offence and due to our investigation we’ve been able to swiftly arrest the offenders, the alleged offenders involved in the matter.”
The pair will front Tamworth Local Court next month.
