NORTH WEST HIT WITH NIGHT OF WILD WEATHER

The North West has been battered by wild weather.

Quirindi residents capturing streaks of lightning in the early hours of the morning.

Further north, Guyra and Armidale locals saw snow fall.

Minor flooding has closed a number of roads at Bendemeer and Goonoo Goonoo Creek, While Moonbi Gap Road closed for several hours after trees fell.

Despite parts of Tamworth seeing up to 40 millimetres of rain, last night’s storm was largely for show – the SES responded to just three calls for help.

“It sounded pretty intense throughout the night, the rain was really hard at times, however the rivers responded really well to the rainfall, which is good.”
